A rolling road session took place with four Surrey Members and two non members. Our aim was to get a report on how our engines were performing and get that all important BHP reading. Mathew was the guy in charge of preceedings, lets see what happened.
Kev's MK 1 3.0 was first on the rollers, Matt went through the gears a couple of times just to get the engine warmed up. Then he went for it, reaching 6,000rpm in top gear, the sound of your engine doing that can be a bit daunting to say the least, but no damage was done. Matt said it was running to lean, and very lumpy, only producing 123 BHP.
Gary's 3.0 Ghia auto was next up, he had his Capri on the rollers only a couple of weeks earlier somewhere else, so wanted to compare that with this one. Matt took it through it's paces with no ill effects, resulting in a BHP figure of 121. Gary was a little disappointed with this, as a reading of around 150 had been achieved on his other run, still 121BHP is not bad for a standard Essex engine with well in excess of 100,000 miles on it.
