My first experience of the Ford Capri was in the late 70's when my Dad purchased a 1974 2.0ltr MK2, I immediately fell in love with the car. You can imagine why because previously we had been driving around in a Renault 16, but now we were driving around in a proper sports car! Sadly this did not last for long as my Dad sold it for a more family friendly Ford Granada, this is where the story of the Capri stops for a while, until 5 or 6 years ago with a wife and two kids in tow I finally decided that the motorbikes in the garage had to go and a more friendly past time had to come in.
So in August 2002 I started to look for a suitable car to restore and take to shows with my family, sadly no decent Capri's came about for the money I had. So I settled for what I thought was a good introduction to classic cars, a MK2 Cortina 1600E. This was duly restored to a useable condition and used as much as possible, but as the shows came and went I was slowly starting to look at Capri's again until the fateful day I went to the British Airways car show at Heathrow. There I met Mike Forman in "one" of his many Capri's, a brown 3.0ltr MK2, "that's it the Cortina has to go" I thought and asked if he or anyone else knew of any half decent Capri's for sale. I was told of a MK2 on the dreaded ebay but was reassured that the seller was a decent bloke and the car wasn't that bad. So a day or so later after a phone call my father and I went to sunny Weston Super Mare and a few hours later I was the proud owner of my first Capri !!! (the Cortina was put up for sale immediately).

Since buying the car last year I've done a bit of history digging and found out it's had one owner up until 2005 so I contacted the original owner and found out he bought it new from Haxted motors of Edenbridge in 1975 and used it all over France and Italy for holidays.

The car was sadly stolen from him twice. On the second occasion he put it into his garage and just left it there with the intention of getting it back on the road. Ten years later he finally decided to sell it, so now I'm the proud owner of a MK2 3.0ltr Ghia with still a bit of work to do on it, but that's half the fun !! It's taken quite a few years but I've finally got my Capri, was it worth the wait.......YES !!!! ------------------------ ---------------------- -------------------- Specification : Reg Number - KFG 639P First registered August 1975 Engine - Standard 3.0 V6 Gearbox - 4 Speed Manual (converted from auto) Interior - Black Rialto, Standard as possible Things to do list, replace bumpers with better ones, the odd trim bit here and there, some work on one of the wheel arches, to fit electronic ignition.
