The first Ace Cafe Ford Capri Day has now taken place, and what a great success it was with the main parking area nearly completely filled by 10.05am. I arrived at 8.45, there was already four capris parked up with their owners inside the Ace tucking into an early breakfast. The Ace Cafe marshalls were kept busy arranging the parking area as a steady stream of capris continued to arrive, from 1.6 engines to 3 litre V6's and big rumbling V8's. All of the owners were busy either polishing their cars or getting display boards set up, and one owner even took one of his front wheels off to display his new front brakes, which had only been fitted a few days before the show! The road outside of the Ace Cafe was by now starting to act as an over-flow car park, with the main parking area holding 44 capris! I decided to have a count up, at one stage during the day I counted 72 capris on site all at one time. With some of the capris parked in the road and just visiting to see what was going on and then leaving again, I would guess that around 80 capris actually turned up on the day! A huge thanks goes to everyone that made the effort to come along, even the sun came out, a rare sight of the summer of 2007. After the prize giving which took place at 2pm, owners gradually started to leave. By 4pm most had gone and I decided it was time to head for home. The positive comments I've received about the day are very welcome and most appreciated, there is no doubt about it the first Ace Cafe Capri Day was a huge success !! An event that will be repeated in 2008.

An article about the day will be in a future edition of Retro Ford magazine, a freelance journalist / photographer was present all day. He was kept busy taking details of particular capris of interest and their owners. Cheers Bob, hope you enjoyed your day.
Mr Graham Peers from 'RoadSure' insurance company was also in attendance during the day, I know some of you found some answers to your questions. Thanks Graham, hope you enjoyed the day as much as we all did.
